Government School Parents

In metropolitan areas, many private school parents come from middle-income backgrounds and often raise their children to speak primarily in English from an early age. Due to language barriers, socio-economic differences, and geographic separation, these children typically have minimal interaction with their peers in government schools. While government school students learn to read and write in English, they often lack strong spoken English skills.
Since spoken English is a key gateway to career success in India, there is a natural opportunity for peer learning between private and government school students. This interaction not only enhances language skills but also contributes to holistic development, fostering social awareness and a deeper understanding of “The Other India.” Additionally, many academic curriculums require students to engage in extracurricular activities that promote creativity, activity, and service (CAS).
Our platform provides a structured program that enables private school students to teach English at local government schools, creating meaningful learning experiences for both groups.
How will this initiative help you?
Students Collective offers a technology platform that seamlessly connects students with nearby government schools. It provides structured, class-by-class lesson plans to guide teaching sessions. This experience allows students to step outside their comfort zone, enjoy teaching alongside other private school students, and share their skills with children they might not otherwise interact with.
Beyond teaching, this opportunity develops social awareness, meaningful experiences, and fulfills extracurricular requirements for academic curriculums and future college applications.

What is Involved?
Is your child in grades 3rd – 10th and do you want to give your children better future opportunities and learn English with them?
Our program makes learning fun and easy. Once registered, your students will begin their lessons. Saturdays are particularly popular since government schools operate while private schools typically do not.
Through our platform, you child and their classmates will be registered in our system, ensuring a smooth and organized learning experience. English lessons will typically take place on Saturdays, as government schools operate then, while private schools usually do not. Each session will be conducted by 2-4 mentors (private school students from grades 9th – 12th who are at least 2 grades senior to you) and/or adults, often with their teacher present.
Lessons are designed to fit within a standard class period. Their mentor will take attendance at the start of each session before guiding them through the lesson.
All activities and progress will be tracked through our Learning Management System (LMS), allowing you to monitor your child’s journey.
