Private School Parents

In metropolitan areas, many private school parents come from middle to high-income backgrounds and often raise their children to speak primarily in English from an early age. Due to language barriers, socio-economic differences, and geographic separation, these children typically have minimal interaction with their peers in government schools.

While government school students learn to read and write in English, they often lack strong spoken English skills. Since spoken English is a key gateway to career success in India, there is a natural opportunity for peer learning. This interaction not only enhances language skills but also contributes to holistic development, fostering social awareness and a deeper understanding of “The Other India.” Additionally, many academic curriculums require students to engage in extracurricular activities that promote creativity, activity, and service (CAS).

Our platform provides a structured program that enables private school students to teach English at local government schools, creating meaningful learning experiences for both groups.

How will this initiative help you?

Students Collective offers a technology platform that seamlessly connects students (and parents!) with nearby government schools. It provides structured, class-by-class lesson plans to guide teaching sessions. This experience allows students to step outside their comfort zone, enjoy teaching alongside other private school students or parents, and share their skills with children they might not otherwise interact with.

Beyond teaching, this opportunity develops social awareness, meaningful bonding experiences with parents, and fulfills extracurricular requirements for academic curriculums and future college applications.

Testimonials

"The Nonprofit I worked in had created Spoken English modules for school dropouts to help them become employable. My daughter and I used them to teach in the government school. Watching these young bright kids learn and respond was a very fulfilling experience for both of us. Doing it together made us get much closer."

What is Involved?

Do you want to be a part of something meaningful and give back to society? You can join your children in teaching!

Our program provides bonding opportunities, turning teaching and learning  into treasured memories. Once registered, you’ll see a list of nearby government schools and can select your preferred location based on convenience.

To effectively manage a class (as part of a group), we recommend this program for students in Grades 9th –12th teach govt. school children in 3rd – 10th grades. We will train, mentor, and guide your ward as they begin teaching spoken English weekly at the government school of their/your choice. Saturdays are particularly popular since government schools operate while private schools typically do not, ensuring this experience won’t interfere with your child’s academic schedule.

All activities and progress will be tracked through our Learning Management System (LMS), allowing you to monitor the teaching journey. These reports can also support CAS requirements. Additionally, we will assist in arranging a projector to display lessons in the classroom, making the experience even more engaging.
